Embedding a Widget

What's a Widget? Social Bookmarking

 

You can help spread the word about this cause by "embedding" the Widget on your webpage.

Embed provides an easy way for you to place a copy of the campaign widget on your own blog, MySpace or other webpage. To support a campaign on Facebook, you can use the bookmark function to post a campaign link on your profile page.

It's easy to do and can make a big difference

  • To embed from a widget, click Embed, then choose the type of embed code you want to use, either Javascript or MySpace code. 

  • COPY WEBPAGE CODE automatically copies JavaScript embed code to your clipboard.  We recommend using JavaScript code for most websites, blogs, etc.

  • COPY MySpace CODE copies object embed code to your clipboard.  We recommend the object embed method for MySpace profile pages.

  • To embed from an email invitation, select the code you want to use and copy it to your clipboard.

  • Once the embed code is copied to your clipboard, paste it in the body of your site's html where you would like it to appear.

Embedding in a Drupal site? Here are some tips:

Note: If you don't know whether you have a Drupal site, you probably don't.

For Drupal sites, you should use JavaScript embed code (select COPY WEBPAGE CODE).

Once you are logged in to your Drupal site, create a new page or edit the page where you want to add the widget.

Click "Input Format" and select PHP code. If you don't see "Input Format," ask your administrator to enable access for you.

With the Body window in HTML mode, decide where you'd like to place the widget and insert the embed code into the HTML.

Note: You won't be able to successfully insert the embed code if the Body window is in WYSIWYG mode.

Set other page settings as you would normally.

Help spread the word: Bookmark the cause to at least 3 sites

  • Click the Bookmark tab of the widget to get to Social Bookmarking Sites (You may have to register for the site in order to bookmark)

Get your friends involved

  • Pass the campaign to your friends by using the Send button on the bottom of the widget

  • Ask them to support us by bookmarking the site as well
